"As a general rule, we should say that in youth the dress should be simple and elegant, the ornaments flowers. In middle age, the dress should be of rich materials, and more splendid in its character; jewels are the appropriate ornaments. "

Mrs. Merrifield c. 1854

At Yesterday's Emporium we specialize in fine gowns from the Civil War era. Every article of clothing is made with the utmost care and attention to detail.

We are very particular about authenticity of the garments. All of our gowns are custom designed and made to order.

Whether you choose one of our "Signature Gowns" with every stitch done by hand as was the way back then, or our "Designer Line" with hidden stitches by machine and visible stitching by hand, you can be proud to own a "one of a kind" gown.

Imagine gracing the ball room floor with a beautiful and unique gown.
